The Office of the Mayor is pleased to announce that our Village is being honored with a Heritage Preservation Award by the Cultural Properties Review Committee of the NM Department of Cultural Affairs. The Committee voted to bestow this award at its April meeting for our work in preserving the integrity of the Old San Ysidro Church.
The Village, the Corrales Fire Department, the Corrales Historical Society, and Crocker, Ltd. were nominated for this award by Mr. Edgar Boles for their joint efforts to stabilize the church and preserve the exterior using mud plaster while addressing underlying structural and drainage issues with current technology. The Village was also recognized for taking ownership of the historic church and its work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on the project.
Mayor Scott Kominiak, Fire Commander Tanya Lattin, Fire Chief Anthony Martinez, Susan Cahill, and Ed Crocker have been invited to accept the award at a ceremony sponsored by the Department’s Historic Preservation Division to be held on May 13 at Santa Fe’s Scottish Rite Center, located at 463 Paseo de Peralta. Please join the Mayor in congratulating our team for their work and for earning this prestigious recognition.
