Mayor's Message for April 30th, 2021

River Mile Marker

Corrales got RAIN on Wednesday (even a clap of thunder). Now we are back up to the 80s and sunny. However, winds might pick up on Sunday, so please be fire aware. Hard to believe but tomorrow is May 1, with its many holiday traditions.

Community shout out to the Corrales Historical Society (CHS) volunteers (and Corrales Public Works  for its assistance) as CHS works to replace the wooden floor in the Old Church. Can’t wait to see the before and after photos. Thank you for keeping the Old Church beautiful.

Sandoval is GREEN! Corrales businesses can operate at 50% capacity indoors. Mask restrictions have been eased if you are vaccinated. Even better: if 60% of our population is vaccinated by June 30, we can fully reopen. If you really care about that, please go get both shots, get vaccinated, and encourage the vaccine hesitant. Absolutely the real way to support our businesses and our community. Help Commander Lattin reach her goal of full vaccination for Corrales. Yes, we can! Mark your calendars. Keep it Rio! On May 8, from 9 to 1, join the Corrales Fire Department and Corrales Police Department at Siphon Beach as they show you how to have fun safely on the beach or in the river. Also a great time to donate old life vests and learn about our Mile Markers. For full details, check out the flyer. https://www.corrales-nm.org/fire/page/keep-it-rio-river-adventure-outre…

Exciting things are happening around sustainable food production. Alan Brauer and local resident Kara Bobroff gave an informative presentation at the last Council meeting about the launch of their Tides Center Project at Trosello here in Corrales - an indigenous food hub. It will be hot this weekend as we usher in the month of May. Take advantage of the weather to enjoy the outdoors. Get an early start on Cinco de Mayo (next Wednesday) and don’t forget to plan ahead for Mother’s Day on May 9! This Sunday, buy some locally grown produce at the Corrales Growers’ Market from 9-12. Whatever you do, please enjoy yourself and stay safe, Corrales-style.

Mayor of Corrales
