Mayor's Message for August 5th, 2022

Starry Night

The Village of Corrales’ administrative campus is in the process of an upgrade. The signage you see as you enter the campus is just a sample of what's to come.  A landscaping plan is available to view at Hanselmann’s Pottery through August 7th during their regular business hours. In addition, a site development plan is being done so the administration can be certain of the lot coverage in the complex. Once it is completed, the administration will know how much space is available for a new animal services facility. The administration thinks it appropriate to keep these government services centralized as much is possible. Funding has already been arranged for this landscaping and new structure.

Events this weekend include the Grower’s Market from 9 am to noon, and First Sunday, Sponsored by Corrales MainStreet. Follow the signs throughout the Village and check out all the great artists and vendors from 10 am to 4 pm.

Speaking of Corrales MainStreet: Starry Night has been a fund raiser for Corrales MainStreet for several years. It has been well attended and successful in raising funds. Tickets can be purchased at https://visitcorrales.com/starry-night.

The Corrales Equestrian Advisory Commission is planning an equestrian microchip clinic Saturday, August 6th from 8 am to 12 pm so owners can be identified if they get separated from their horses in time of an emergency, such as an evacuation. Reservations are required; Text 505-480-5689 or email champcorralesnm [at] gmail.com.

As everyone knows, Covid has been a world-wide concern for almost two-and-a-half years. Now, monkeypox is a National Health Emergency. New Mexico has 10 cases, all of which are linked to travel or other known contact, and the state is working to make more vaccines available. Fire Commander Tanya Lattin shared a wonderful podcast with us from Dr. Osterholm from the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, located at the University of Minnesota. You can listen to all his podcasts, including those regarding Covid at https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/podcasts-webinars.
