Soon the legislative session will begin in Santa Fe. The Village Council has put together all of our requests for funding support called the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Projects or ICIP. The larger projects include the fire suppression plan, the wastewater management plan, and the ACE (Art, Community, Education) Center. There are many other important projects, not as pricey as these, included on a long list. We are still waiting to hear about the final grant for the new gym, but groundbreaking for construction will be held on January 10 at 1 PM.

We have over 80 children needing your help this year with food and gifts for the holidays. The last day to pick up a Giving Tree tag is Monday, December 19th by 5 pm. Gifts need to be returned to the tree by Wednesday, December 21st. Monetary donations will be accepted at the main fire station at 4920 Corrales Road. Please make checks out to KCCF Kiwanis Club of Corrales and put "fire drive" on the memo line.

Covid, flu, and RSV infections have put Albuquerque in the national news. Our hospitals are being stressed. Wear a KN95 or N95 mask in a crowd ( avoid the crowds if you can), wash your hands frequently, and use a home test if there is a question about infection. Remember, at home test can take 3-4 days to show positive during your infection. Stay home if you are sick.   Home tests are available and free in the village. Check with the village office, the fire department, or the library to get yours..  Sign up for NM Notify to be alerted of an exposure and to confidentially alert others if you are positive https://nmnotify.com/  The National Institutes of Health has a hone test reporting system that is safe and confidential MAKE MY TEST COUNT https://makemytestcount.org/

Many activities are in the village this week end. Be safe. Wear your mask in a crowd. Don’t forget social distancing. We are still in a pandemic, but are better prepared, immunologically, than in 2020.

The Festival of the Nativities is taking place Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at the Historic Old San Ysidro Church. You can even enter to win one of three handmade nativities. The event is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds will benefit the preservation and maintenance of the Old Church. While you're at the event, you can also enter to win a six-course meal with wine pairings for you and nine of your friends in the Feast with Friends Raffle. Tickets are $20 per entry.

Closing on the Anderson Property was 12/15/2023. A conceptual plan is in the works for moving the Growers’ Market to this space. Leveling, some clearing, and additional electrical power will be needed. Fencing and some road work will need to be done. It would be nice if it could be readied for next season.

The site development plan for the administrative complex was approved by the planning and zoning commission. The administration is in the process of fine tuning the plans for the animal facility. Conceptual drawings have been done for the renovation of the community center to include a commissary kitchen.

CRIME AND SAFETY UPDATE

On Mon. 12/05 police were advised that a greenhouse on the 100 block of E. La Entrada and a number of plants therein had been damaged at an unknown time during the preceding weekend. Patrols of the area have been increased. Please contact CPD at 505-891-7226 with any information pertaining to this incident.

On Tue. 12/06 a resident reported falling victim to a job scam wherein she posted her résumé online, was informed that she was being hired to work remotely, was forwarded a check (which turned out to be bogus) and instructed to purchase office equipment and gift cards. Legitimate employers won’t send you a check then have you send some of the money or gift card numbers back to them. Please be wary under these circumstances and visit the FTC web site for more information on employment scams. https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/job-scams#avoid

On Thu. 12/08 a report was filed concerning a decorative windmill having been stolen from outside of a commercial property on the 3700 block of Corrales RD at an unknown time during the previous three days.

Also on Thu. 12/08 a resident reported that a package which was supposedly delivered to the Corrales Post Office via a private e-commerce company was unaccounted for. Consider utilizing a parcel locker or requiring a signature for merchandise deliveries to help secure your purchases.

On Sat. 12/10 a citizen reported that while her vehicle was parked at the Cabezon Bosque gate at around noon, a window was shattered and the backpack which was left on the front right seat was stolen. Never leave valuables in unattended vehicles and please call CPD (505-891-7226) if you see anyone lurking around / peering into parked cars.

Thank you, have a safe week and remember: SEE IT, HEAR IT, REPORT IT!

Looking forward to the New Year. Stay safe, stay healthy, look out for your friends and neighbors.
