Mayor's Message for January 21st, 2022

Balloons over Rio

We are heading into the third week of January and the weather has been dry and mostly warm (at least in the afternoons) for this time of year. Just saying, Corrales is lovely any time of the year.

As always, there is lots going on at the Corrales Community Library. You know about the Author’s Series, and this month, listen to a local author discussing the rise of ballooning in New Mexico. For details, go.

The good news is that New Mexico expects Omicron to peak in the next 2-3 weeks. The bad news is that cases now are very high. It’s a waiting game, so let’s stay Corrales strongGet vaccinated and boosted and wear a mask. More good news: over 90% of New Mexicans have received one shot and all of us can now get 4 free Covid tests per household. It’s easy to do. Just go up on this website and place your order: https://www.covidtests.gov/

Attention business owners! Is your business registration up to date? Our very own Brigitte Scott wanted me to share this with you: “Please check your Business Registration Certificate for the expiration date. Your business may be due for renewal. Complete a registration form online and mail it with your $35.00 payment to our offices at 4324 Corrales Road, Corrales, NM 87048.  Thanks.”

New Mexico Main Street has awarded Corrales MainStreet $40,000 to develop its Cultural Economic Development Plan. This is a great step towards the goal of creating an Arts and Culture District. Congratulations and we look forward to more details in the near future.

The New Mexico Legislature opened its 30 day session on Tuesday. For all the latest goings-on, check the New Mexico Legislature website https://www.nmlegis.gov, the local newspapers, television stations https://www.krqe.com/news/politics-government/legislature/, or political blogs.

The Village Council is meeting next Tuesday, January 25th, at 6:30 pm. The Agenda, with zoom link, and the public packet, will be available online.  Join us and be in the know!

This weekend, mostly sunny weather will allow us all to get out there and enjoy our trails and byways. Check out the local business scene at: www.visitcorrales.com and/or watch the NFL Divisional Rounds. Whatever you choose to do, please stay safe and enjoy yourselves, Corrales-style.
