Mayor's Message for July 29th, 2022

Signing the Gonzales Purchase Agreement

This past Tuesday night, the Village Council approved a purchase agreement for the front 3 acres of the Gonzales property adjacent to the Wells Fargo Bank. Several people have been key in getting this agreement in place, including former Mayor Jo Anne Roake, Allen Gonzales, Village Administrator Ron Curry, and more local residents than we can name here. Many ideas have been floated as to how the land could be utilized best for the community. Those discussions will continue, and I would suggest Corraleños pass on their thoughts and ideas to their respective councilor. If you are unsure who your council member is, you can check the voting districts map on the Village website at this link.

It appears the heat may be abating, and the rains may be coming. One can hope. Many government entities are working to come up with both short term and long term plans to address our water woes so that irrigation can continue into the future. However, the way water is distributed and used may have to change. Stay tuned. We are still in a drought and have a potential issue with fire in the village. Be alert and be safe.

Covid is still with us and is trying to surge. See the graphic at the bottom of the message for tips on preventing Covid.
