Election! We did it. Thank you to everyone who stood for election, became informed and voted. Voter turnout was good and I'd like to thank the Village Clerk, Shannon Fresquez, for making sure it all ran right. The campaign results will be certified on March 13. Unofficially, the new Councilors are District 6: Stuart Murray, District 5: Zac Burkett and District 2: Bill Woldman. Judge Michelle Frechette was re-elected and both bonds passed. The new Councilors will start in April. Congratulations.

Kudos to Parks and Recreation Director Lynn Siverts - he’s been here 23 years! Over the years, he has helped hundreds of children (and adults) throughout Corrales. He will be especially busy now as he helps to carry out the citizens’ wishes for expanded recreational opportunities. Lynn absolutely gets other job offers, but he sticks with us. We are so lucky. Thank you Lynn.

Michael Chavez and the Public Works Department have been getting lots of compliments on how quickly and efficiently the latest Loma Large project was completed. Plus, the Bicycle Commission appreciated how quickly PW removed excess gravel.

And there’s more! Fire Commander Tanya Lattin deserves credit for her fine oversight of the Salce Basin project, which is moving along well.

On the Corrales Village website, volunteers are helping add content (older minutes, agendas, etc.) to provide expanded on-line information to the public. Tip of the week: look for the red banner at the top of the home page to see items of high importance. Website

Would you like wood chips? You can get them (while they last) from the Corrales Fire Department. $150 for 14 cubic yards; 898-7501.

The first March Council Meeting takes place next Tuesday (March 10th) at 6:30. Please check the website for the agenda and materials, which as always, will be posted this afternoon. Meetings

It’s Daylight Savings time. We will “spring forward,” so remember to set your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night. Yes, you will feel as if you are running behind on Sunday, but on the upside, you’ll have more daylight to enjoy the weekend, Corrales-style.
