Mayor's Message for November 19th, 2021

Happy Thanksgiving

The weather has been great here in Corrales this fall. Now we are starting to feel a seasonal drop in temperatures and most of our trees are no longer wearing their leaves.

We really are heading into the holidays. Next Thursday we celebrate Thanksgiving, a holiday renown for gathering with those close to us and sharing a (big) meal. It’s a time to express gratitude for all we have and that brings us joy. I wish you and yours a peaceful and happy day. Village offices will be closed next Thursday and Friday in observance.

Please celebrate Thanksgiving carefully. State and federal health officials recommend keeping gatherings small and being especially protective of relatives who are vulnerable.

Congratulations to Commander Tanya Lattin, who got a Pay it Forward segment from KOB for her work carrying out adult and pediatric vaccine clinics. Sue Hinchcliff, local clinic volunteer, Kiwanis member and nurse, paid her a lovely and well-deserved tribute. See it here: https://www.kob.com/albuquerque-community/pay-it-4ward-corrales-woman-thanked-for-organizing-vaccine-clinics/6302797/?cat=12846. Commander Lattin also got a great shout out from Rio Rancho Public Schools for “her partnership and assistance throughout the pandemic.” Thank you Rio Rancho Public Schools and KOB for recognizing Commander Lattin’s service.

Watch for a report of what we discovered after unearthing the Time Capsule! The Village plans to assemble some representative items and rebury the capsule in the near future.

Music in Corrales is presenting Socks in the Frying Pan, an award winning trio from the west coast of Ireland. The concert will be available Online-Video on Demand from November 20-28. For tickets, go to: https://musicincorrales.org.

It looks like it will be colder this weekend. Perfect weather to go outdoors (with an extra layer) and then do some holiday shopping. This Sunday from 11-1, visit the special Holiday Edition of the Corrales Growers Market. Watch for special information about Small Business Saturday on November 27th. Always check for local business events on http://visitcorrales.com. Whatever you do, please stay safe and have some fun, Corrales-style.
