Mayor's Message October 18th 2019

With any luck, this message is coming to you on our brand new Village website by the end of the day Friday! Village employees have been working hard to put content onto the new site and we are up and running ahead of our projected start date. Expect further improvements as we move along, but this site should be easy to navigate and allow the Village to be more interactive with the community. Many thanks to employee Aaron Gjullin, who has been managing this project. Next up for Aaron - helping the Village with the Tyler Technologies project, in which we will upload our internal data with the goal of becoming more efficient and effective.

Aaron’s other hat is youth basketball, which is coming! We have had over 100 kids sign up so far, and a ton of volunteer coaches to boot. Our league does not run without our volunteer coaches, so we appreciate every single one of them for dedicating their time to teach kids basketball. Kudos to you! There are still a few spots left so if you want to register head over to https://campscui.active.com/orgs/VillageofCorrales#/selectSessions/2704… to register. Have any questions? Call Aaron at 505-899-8900.

At the Harvest Festival, Master Gardeners helped young volunteers create a wonderful mosaic made up of hundreds of seeds. The beautiful finished product is now installed in the Village Office (come take a look), but will be moving soon to the Rec Center so it can be enjoyed by all the children and families who use the facility. Thank you to the Master Gardener’s for this terrific project.

The Corrales Community Library Gala is coming up this Saturday - come support our Library. Tickets: https://www.corraleslibrary.org/focl-gala/.

CANDY! Trick ‘r Trunk is a spooktacular event and the children need every bit of your candy donation! There will be dozens of decorated vehicles, inflated hot air balloons and a bonfire (weather permitting). Drop donations off at the Village Office. Thanks.

Meadowlark update: Final fixes (which will take a couple of weeks) are starting, so please consider your travel routes.  Once this work is complete, horses will be able to use the south side of Meadowlark. The Village will then turn its attention to the north side trail and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

Don’t forget to enjoy the Corrales Growers’ Market and the Corrales Makers’ Market this Sunday from 9-12. This Sunday the Growers’ Market will host the Water Fair where you can get your water tested. Whatever you do, enjoy your weekend, Corrales style.
