Our weather is changing and getting colder. Enjoy the brief change of leaves, haul out your winter clothing and prepare for frost!

Early voting for the 2019 Sandoval County Local Election is happening now through November 2, 2019. Vote at the Community Center, 4326 Corrales Road  (northeast corner of Administration complex) Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm. There are a number of important bond issues. Sample ballots are available on the website under the quick link 2019 Election Information: http://www.sandovalcountynm.gov.

Halloween is right around the corner - next Thursday. Lynn Siverts, Head of Parks and Recreation, was interviewed on television about Trick ‘r Trunk, so the word is out and the Village is preparing for evermore happy and safe trick or treaters who want to spend the evening with us. Please keep donating that candy! We always have truck beds full of candy and we still run out early. Thanks for your support.

On Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m., the Corrales Chapter of Veterans of Foreign War will dedicate a new Veteran’s Memorial in La Entrada Park. The time of the gathering reflects the exact end of the First World War (11/11/11) and memorializes the sacrifices of our New Mexican veterans, living and dead, who have done so much for so many. There will be speeches (short), good company and light refreshments to mark the unveiling of this lovely and eloquent memorial, designed by Corrales resident Terrance Brown, F.A.I.A.

Corrales Animal Services has a newly refurbished truck to help them carry out their important work on behalf of our animals. Look for Animal Control officers Cat Keller and Bryah Lattin-Montano cruising around in their new wheels.

Every year, the National Hispanic Cultural Center hosts an Ofrende (altar) installation for Dia de los Muertos. Among the participants this year, the Corrales Art Center has put together a beautiful offering, which you can view at the NHCC through November 8.

Obviously you are seeing this on a new website, so please feel free to give us feedback as it fills out in content. Those comments can be directed to agjullin [at] corrales-nm.org. You can still find the Crime and Safety Update put out by Chief Mangiacapra in the Latest News tab on the home page. You also might see the Current Projects tab which is where we are going to start to put updates of our construction projects going on in the Village. More to come soon!

Please don’t forget to visit the the Corrales Growers’ Market and  the Corrales Makers’ Markets It is getting towards the end of the season, so be sure and visit as long as you can. BTW, the Rio Ranch Observer readers’ poll gave first place to the Corrales Growers’ Market. Congratulations to Al and Bonnie Gonzales and to all the vendors who make our market such a stand-out.

Whatever you do, enjoy your weekend, Corrales-style.
