Mayor's Message for September 3rd, 2021

Happy Labor Day

The end of August brought us hot and stormy weather. Along with wind and rain comes downed limbs, garden litter and extra growth, so please be fire safe and clean up your property.

It is Labor Day weekend – the official end of summer and a day to honor the contributions of working people to our country. A little history at: https://www.dol.gov/general/laborday/history

New Mexico is the only state outside New England to be in the top tier of vaccinated citizens. However, the highly contagious delta variant is like ants at a picnic. Keep wearing a masksocial distance and avoid crowded settings. Still, we are seeing cases, so this is what Commander Lattin advises right now:

1) If you are sick with any of the following: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throatcongestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, GET TESTED.

2) If you’ve been exposed to a COVID-19 positive person or someone who is sick but not tested, if you have traveled outside New Mexico or the United States, GET TESTED.

3) If you care for someone who is immunocompromised and you have been to a crowded indoor or outdoor setting, TESTING IS ADVISED. (Testing best five days after an exposure or travel.) Anyone can test and it is free and easyProviders require appointments and can be found at: https://cvprovider.nmhealth.org/directory.html

Here are a few quick links:

Vault at home testing, it’s free, they ship it to you, you test in front of a provider on camera and send it back https://learn.vaulthealth.com/nm/  (Commander keeps a spare, just in case.)
