Crossing the borders into Corrales is like stepping into a time and place where the stresses of twenty-first century life give way to the grace and pace of another era. Walkers, bikers, horseback riders, and even carriages are a part of everyday life. The Village is bordered on the east by the Rio Grande, West and North by the City of Rio Rancho, and to the South by the City of Albuquerque. Population 7,300.
The Village of Corrales city office is located at:

Well, the winds of spring continue! We’ve been blown around pretty good this week and so may have downed limbs and branches – we do try to pick things up on Village property. However, if you spot something significant that we have missed, please call 899-8900 and let us know. I know there is concern about brush and trash build-up that occurs along Corrales Road (State Highway 448). The New Mexico State Department of Transportation owns Corrales Road and is responsible for keeping it maintained. However, volunteer organizations used to help clean up the road and I am making some calls to see if I can convince them to start up again. I will keep you updated.
This week, I participated in “Leadership Sandoval County 2018” as part of the Mayors’ Forum, along with Bernalillo Mayor Jack Torres and Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull. It was very informative and served to highlight our shared concerns and goals. The Police Department, as part of their continuing education, received training on responding to missing persons cases (Amber, Brittany and Silver alerts). Also, Officer Rogers, who organized a spring break reading program, Books and Badges, hosted a pizza party at Corrales Elementary for the class who logged in the most reading hours. Way to go!
Again, it is supposed to be windy this weekend, so stay safe and let’s hope for some much-needed moisture!

Road NM448 (Corrales Road) is a State Road, maintained by the State of New Mexico. All other roads in Village of Corrales are Private roads , owned and maintained by private residents or Public Roads maintained by the Village of Corrales. Refer to This Map to identify if a road is Public or Private. On the map all shaded roads are "public "roads". Call the burn line at 899-9819 As the two locations with gates are known for having persons enter to have "parties" and they are the farthest away from Corrales Road, the gates are used during wind events and when the Bosque is extremely dry due to lack of rain. They will also be used if there is a fire or other emergency in the Bosque. All 911 calls in Sandoval County go to the Sandoval County Regional Emergency Communications Center in Rio Rancho. The fire truck you saw leaving were tenders. As Corrales has no municipal water system we use tenders to haul water to our fire scenes and then dump the water in to drop tanks for use on the fire. The tenders then go back to our water tanks and refill. The department patrols the Bosque every day to look for fires and educate people on the rules of the Bosque. We use our Brush truck for this patrol. If you are having a medical emergency dial 911, don't drive to the station. There are many reasons not to drive; one you are ill or injured, two you may get to the station and everyone could be out. When you dial 911 the dispatch center will contact the department through the radio and ensure we are notified of your emergency. If you are driving by and have an emergency the station has a door bell, if no one answers there is an emergency phone on the wall by the door. Use this phone; it connects directly to the 911 center. Of course, this is your Fire Department. You can call 898-7501 or stop by the station we would be happy to answer your questions. You will see the judge at the time of your assigned court date, which is marked at the citation bottom: COURT APPEARANCE. At the time of your appearance you will be allowed to enter a plea and have a trial, if you choose. Expect to spend at least three hours in court, although you may be done in less time. Court starts the time noted in the header of this page, but please arrive 15 minutes before so you have time for security clearance into the courtroom. Do not be late, as there are advisories at the beginning which you need to hear. It is your decision whether or not to hire an attorney to help you with your case. If you wish to have one you should be prompt to hire him/her and have them enter their appearance on your case. For simple traffic tickets people usually represent themselves. If your case includes a possible penalty of jail time then you will be required to hire an attorney or waive your right to have one represent you. In such cases if you cannot afford to hire an attorney and you qualify, an attorney will be appointed to represent you. Simple traffic violations have a penalty assessment (otherwise known as a fine and court costs) which you are required to pay if: You must remit payment within 30 days of the date you received the ticket unless you come to the window or court and sign a payment agreement for a longer period. On traffic citations the date is located almost midway down the citation. If you come to the court window or to your hearing in person, you may sign an agreement to make payments on your fines and costs over time. Municipal court offers several options for resolving your citation(s). Not all options are available for all citations. You may pay: You need to appear for your court date, which was given to you by the police officer or the court. You may hire an attorney to help you and have them file an entry of appearance before your court date. For more serious crimes the court has a range of possible punishments which can be imposed, as noted above on this page. The amount of jail time, fines, costs and programs is dependent on the crime charged and your prior conviction history. The judge will explain your constitutional rights, the details of the potential penalties and your choices to plea or go to trial at the time of your first appearance, known as an arraignment. Be inside the court building 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. YES. The Court does accept major credit cards. The card holder must be present to sign for the charge. The card holder does not have to be the person cited. For example: A mother may use her credit card to pay for fines or fees on behalf of a family member. A change in court date (known as a continuance) must be requested no more than 7 days before your hearing. The court clerk can only give one continuance of the hearing. NO. Only the person charged with a traffic/criminal offense can enter a plea on their case, unless an attorney appears for you. The judge will not allow a friend or relative to appear on your behalf unless there are unexpected circumstances, such as hospitalization. Proof must be brought to court that there is a problem and the judge will consider giving you a continuance. If you hire an attorney, they need to notify the court in advance if you will not be present and the reason you will not be attending. Community service is offered in very limited circumstances and can only be ordered by the judge. You should first discover why you are suspended: You may call 1-888-683-4636 or go to the nearest NM MVD field office and pay for a copy of your driving record. You may post a cash or bond at the window during office hours or go to the Sandoval County Detention Center to turn yourself in for booking into jail. From jail you may make arrangements for a surety bond to be posted on your behalf or wait until the court has you brought over for hearing. There is no set time to bring you over for hearing, it will usually occur within a few days. YES. The judge will perform a civil, wedding ceremony. Please note the following details:
