Bird Watching Platforms on Farmland Conservation Properties

Over the past two years the Corrales Farmland Preservation and Agricultural Commission has been working with the New Mexico Land Conservancy (NMLC) on a special project funded by a grant from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Together they have hosted two bird walks free to the public guided by local Ornithologists which highlighted three properties that are now in Conservation Easement. The Village has nearly 70 acres of property placed in conservation and more to come! Please consider placing your property in a conservation easement for the benefit of our local and migrating birds. Finally, the commission, NMLC and the ABQ Backyard Refuge Program collaborated to create signage that showcases birds commonly seen on each property as well as a StoryMap website that can be scanned on the sign or found here: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/aabd9388c4514e298f3fcb5aae505ae7

In Spring 2025, NMLC in partnership with the commission will host a ribbon cutting event and bird walk to the three signs and properties. We will keep you posted on date and time!
